When you book a room in hall you will be asked to pay a deposit of £400, if you are already a resident then you will have made this payment when your booking was made unless you were given an exemption.

This deposit is a pre-payment of your accommodation fees and is taken off the amount due on your hall fee account. So it is an advance payment of your hall fees and is not held throughout your time in hall and there is no refund due at the end of your licence period (unless you overpaid your hall fees).


When you arrive and move into your room you are emailed a payment plan for your accommodation fees. This shows all the fees due for your licence period and the amount due for each instalment.

When you make your first hall fee payment, you can deduct the deposit payment you made from that instalment. Or if you would prefer, you can offset it from a later instalment.

So if you pay a £400 deposit and your first instalment of hall fees is £2400 - you just need to pay £2000.

If you forget to deduct your deposit, don't worry, you can do this at a later date. If you paid all your hall fees and forgot to deduct your deposit, a member of the team will arrange a refund for you after you leave hall. This refund will usually take 6 weeks to reach your account and will be sent to the account, you made payment from.

Cleaning or maintenance charges - end of licence period
When you move out of halls there will be a check of your room and any shared communal areas of the flat. If there are any damages or cleaning charges or your key was lost, you will be sent a separate invoice to pay this amount within one month of the end of your licence period.

Refunds for cancellations
If you cancelled your room in hall atleast three weeks before your booking start date (this is the date shown on your licence agreement) then you will be issued a refund. The team will automatically arrange this for you and the refund will be processed within 8 weeks.
