There might be different reasons you want to change your room, maybe your preferred room was not available for you when you booked your accommodation or maybe you have moved in and think you might like a change of scene. The information below will tell you more information depending on your circumstances. If you have any questions or support needs, please raise an enquiry and the team will be in touch.

Room changing before arrival

You can check options to change your room on the room change link in your accommodation portal. After loading the form, you will see all the different room options that might be available for you.

You can look at the options as often as you would like to, before move in. However please note the room change option will close just before the main move in weekend in September so the team have a chance to make sure all the information we have for your arrival is up to date.

If you need a room change due to a change in circumstances which would make it difficult to live in the room you have booked, raise an enquiry with the team and include all the information to support your request. A member of the team will be in touch to discuss support options or opportunities for room changing within three working days of your enquiry.

Room changing after move in

The team will open a room transfer request form from 1st October. You can make a request via the link on your accommodation portal and a member of the team will be in touch as soon as a room is available for you. Room changes in term one can be difficult, so you might be given an option to relocate at the start of term two (if you indicate on your request form that you might be interested in this option). 

The team will regularly ask you to update whether or not you would like to remain on the transfer list, or you can cancel your request at any time if you decide to stay in your current room.

When a room is available, the team will send you an email with an offer of the new room. You will only have one day to accept the offer, so keep a regular check on your emails for updates.

If you want to move room because you are unhappy in your current room or flat, let the team know a bit more about the difficulties you are experiencing and they will be able to work with you to support you in finding solutions to ensure you are comfortable in your accommodation. You can detail your reasons on your request and also raise an enquiry with the team or make an appointment to talk about your options.
