We automatically confirm your registration with Student Finance England (SFE) after term has officially started and you have completed all parts of your university registration.
If you are a new student, registration involves Online Registration (OLR), some Document Checks and ends with you collecting your Student ID card. If you are a continuing student then your registration will just involve Online Registration (OLR).
As long as you have a completed application with SFE, are fully registered and term has started then we should be able to confirm your registration within 5-10 working days and you can then expect to receive your first instalment, usually 3-5 working days (depending on your bank process) .
The confirmation of your registration is automated and the quickest and easiest way to find out is by checking your application and payment status - Getting your first student finance payment - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
If you think you have done everything you need to, you know that there is nothing outstanding with your SFE application and it has been at 10 working days since you registered, but you haven't received your first payment, please submit an enquiry in the Digital Student Centre.
Please note: If you did not originally start in September we will not confirm your registration until the anniversary month of your original registration (e.g., if you started in January 2024, re-registered in September 2024 we will confirm your registration in January 2025).
