If you withdraw from your studies, there are important implications for your Student visa.

The university is required to notify UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) of your withdrawal within 10 working days of the withdrawal being finalised, and we are also required to withdraw our sponsorship of your Student visa.

Your Student Visa will then be curtailed (shortened) by UKVI, usually to a duration of 60 days following the date you withdrew from study.

UKVI will contact you in writing to advise you that you must either leave the UK or apply under a different immigration category to remain in the UK, and will give you a date by which you need to do this.

It is very important that you ensure your details are up to date with UKVI and that you have access to that email address. You should also check your emails regularly and carefully so that you do not miss any cancellation notice.

If you wish to continue with your studies, you will need to apply for a new visa to return to the UK.

Our "Interrupting or withdrawing from study" webpage has more information on the withdrawal process and visa implications.
