Once you’re fully registered we send automatic confirmation to Student Finance England (SFE) to begin the process for your funds to be released. It normally takes around five working days after registration has been confirmed to SFE for your maintenance payment to be processed. This can vary at busy times of year.
However there can be a number of reasons for a delay in receiving your maintenance loan including:
- You not being fully registered. New students need to complete Online Registration, have their ID and qualifications checked and have collected their ID cards to be fully registered (Continuing students just need to complete Online Registration).
- The term has not started yet.
- Your name (including middle names) don't match with SFE records. If you are a continuing student and have gone through a name change over the summer, you will need to visit a Student Centre with evidence of the name change
- SFE have not received or are still processing your application, including asking for more evidence
- The university has not received confirmation that the SFE are going to provide a Tuition Fee loan for you for the academic year
- You have not requested for a maintenance loan or the full amount of tuition (e.g. You may have only requested a Tuition Fee loan and not a maintenance loan).
